Information Technology

Information Technology plays an active role in prevention of conflict. The General has established a long-term strategic partnership with the Ministry of Information and Technology and MIT in USA.

The objectives of IT in Conflict Prevention:

• Peace will be the main objective
• To accelerate progress in human development - primary and secondary education, women's empowerment and communication
• Empowering citizens
• Psychological de-isolation of communities
• Fighting religious fundamentalism

The computer centres at Leh, Diskit, Kargil and Drass have the VSAT connection. Each centre conducts basic computer courses, which includes introduction to computers, Windows, operating systems, MS office and the Internet.

Through these schemes, Lt. Gen Arjun Ray (Retd) is working with the mission of eliminating the psychological isolation that the people of the Ladakh are going through.
